Chronic pain is not a one size fits all condition. What helps relieve pain for one, might not provide the same relief for another. Progressive Pain & Interventional Psychiatry offers many treatment methods to help find the one that fits you best. One of the methods we treat our patients with is platelet-rich plasma therapy!

PRP therapy uses your own body’s natural components which are fundamental parts of the healing process. When you are injured, your body sends platelets to the inflicted area to encourage new healthy tissue growth! Beyond platelets clotting abilities, it also activates cell reproduction with its growth signals. This allows for tissue to be regenerated and ultimately for healing. Taking that element from your body and concentrating it allows us to enhance your natural healing abilities AND only by using what your body naturally produces!

To receive PRP therapy, you first must have your blood drawn so we can gather your powerful platelets and plasma (which is just the liquid portion of your blood.) Your blood is then put through a centrifuge, which is the tool used to concentrate the platelets. That plasma and platelet concentrate is your medicine! That medicine is then injected into your injured area. Once injected, it will stimulate growth and regenerate your injured tissues.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy & Chronic Pain

Platelet-rich plasma therapy can be a great treatment course for several conditions that cause chronic pain! At PPIP, we may recommend this treatment course if you are experiencing:

10
  •  Tendinitis
  • Muscle injuries
  • Torn Tendons
  • Joint pain
  • Arthritis Pain

Because we will be injecting you with your own body’s healing defense, just a more potent version, you can expect to get the results you want faster!  We inject this “medicine” right into the injured tissue. Sometimes we may even use an ultrasound to help guild us to the precise location of your injury! We understand that the ultimate goal of our patients is to live a life free of pain. This treatment method doesn’t just help with symptoms, it targets what is causing the symptoms, and encourages the area to begin healing at much faster rates!

Usually, those who suffer from chronic pain may be on a multitude of medications to help with their pain. Maybe you need an anti-inflammatory, or opioid for pain relief, those kinds of medications can come with side effects and uncertainties of if your body will react positively. With PRP therapy, you aren’t introducing your body to a new substance and therefore reduce your risk of negative side effects. That is the beauty of PRP therapy, it’s not a guessing game of how your body will respond to this foreign substance because you are the source of it!

If you are ready to explore how you can utilize your own healing abilities for your chronic pain, Progressive Pain & Interventional Psychiatry will walk you through every step and ensure you are in great hands!
